About Us

The firm
Sophia Rare Books specializes in science with an emphasis on mathematics and physics. We deal in material from all periods, but as a particular characteristic we focus on important discoveries of recent times which have not yet entered the standard bibliographies.

The company was established by Christian Westergaard in June 2009. Before then Christian worked for twelve years at Scandinavia's oldest antiquarian book shop Herman H.J. Lynge & Søn A/S (1821). Christian received his master's degree in mathematics from the University of Copenhagen in 2005.

Sophia Rare Books is a member of The Danish Antiquarian Bookseller’s Association (ABF) and hence member of ILAB-LILA (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers). Visit us
We do not have an open shop but welcome visitors to make an appointment. We are located in SOHO House in the meatpacking district of Copenhagen (a five minute walk from the main station). Furthermore we regularly visit some of the International book fairs in Europe and America, so let us know if you plan on visiting a particular fair and would like to meet.
